TASKS AND WORKMANSHIP POLICY

At Sandy Lane Automotive, we believe that everyone comes to work to perform at their best level of workmanship, and that they truly want to do a great job.

However, in the event that:

  • a job is incomplete (but designated as completed by the employee);
  • the employee is negligent in their duties;
  • a job must be re-done due to shoddy workmanship

This will be considered a failure to perform employment duties and will result in disciplinary action being taken against the employee in question.

In the event that poor, shoddy or negligent workmanship puts another person or company property at risk, we reserve the right to terminate that worker’s employment immediately. (e.g. failing to tighten the lug nuts on a wheel, resulting in the wheel leaving the vehicle while the vehicle is in motion, causing potential loss of life or injury to the driver or others, or damage to one or more vehicles).

Employees must not conceal defective work or provide false or misleading information on any company work order, report, document or application.

If an employee has any feedback regarding deficiencies in the workplace, or has any suggestions to improve any processes or the work environment, we sincerely hope that they would share this information at a team meeting, or ask for a one-on-one meeting with a supervisor to discuss their concerns privately.

Refusing Work:

All workers have the right to refuse unsafe work – i.e. work that would put them in imminent danger.  For definitions of unsafe work, please refer to our Unsafe Work Policy, or the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Section 35 (2).

Workers do not have the right to refuse work because they don’t feel like doing it, don’t want to do it, would rather do another job, or don’t like the job they’ve been assigned.

Refusing any assigned task will constitute a failure to perform employment duties and will result in disciplinary action being taken against the employee in question.
